Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What Food do we use for the Adult Cats?

A. We use Royal Canin – Queen dry food, Blue Wilderness wet food, and we also give them beef liver and chicken once per week.

Q. What food do we use for the Kittens?

A. We use Royal Canin – Mother and Babycat kitten food. They have both wet and dry food. Every kitten goes home with a kitten kit that includes a bag of food to get started with.

Q. What litter do we use?

A. We use two different litters. For the Adults we use Arm and Hammer – Clump and Seal Slide. We also use crystal litter for the kittens ( when they are first learning to use the litter box )

Q. Do we use litter robots since Maine Coons are so big?

A. Yes! We have 7. We use the Neakasa open top litter robots. You can find it on Amazon and it fits our Maine Coons just fine. The closed top kind is too small and they can’t fit in properly.

Q. Do our Adults cats get along with each other?

A. Yes they do! All of our cats are underfoot. Meaning they are in our home and are our pets. We do not have cages or kennels to separate them. They are our pets and we make sure only to have friendly cats who get along with each other.

Q. Do they get along well with kids or other animals?

A. Yes they do! Like I said, they are our pets. We have 3 small boys that love to pick them up and wag them around. They do no bite, scratch, or hiss at our boys. We also have dogs who come in the house. All of our cats get along with our canine friends as well as our feline friends.

Q. How do we go about getting on the waitlist and how do the payments work?

A. All you have to do is notify us by calling, texting, or emailing that you would like to be added to the waitlist. Let us know if you have a color or gender preference and you will be notified when kittens are available. After you select a kitten, there is a $100 dollar deposit and the rest isn’t due until the kitten goes home.

Q. When do kittens go home?

A. Kittens typically go home around 10-12 weeks after they are fully weaned and have had both rounds of shots.

Q. Are the cats genetically tested for mutations or diseases?

A. Absolutely. We genetically test all of our breeding cats through Basepaws, which checks for 43 different diseases. We do not ever breed carriers, even recessive carriers, of any genetic health anomalies. Because of this, we are happy to offer a replacement guarantee if your kitten should succumb to a genetic illness.
