We are Chris and Rebecca Lindsey. We grew up in the small town of Tahlequah, OK. We traveled around the country a bit before deciding to settle down back in our hometown. Chris is a Contractor and Rebecca is a Systems Engineer. We have 3 young boys and we love our cats.
When we had a first child we tried to have a cat. We adopted from a shelter and she seemed like a good cat. The thing we noticed though, is that normal domestic cats don’t like kids. They don’t put up with their nonsense and they bite, scratch, and hiss at our young kids. Then we read about Maine Coons and how great they are supposed to be with kids and other animals. We waited on a waitlist for over two years and eventually adopted a retired queen. She was perfect. She was loving, gentle, and never hurt our kids. All the good things we ever read about them turned out to be completely true. We were hooked, we wanted another but they are so hard to find. That is when we decided to breed our own so that they are more available for people.
We love cats and we both grew up watching Homeward Bound. The cat Sassy was a Himalayan and we always thought she was gorgeous. After reading about Himalayan Cats, we found out that they are bred down from the Persian and Siamese cats. This turned out to be a great combination, because they are so placid and gentle. If you want a lazy cat that wants to be your friend, they could be right for you. We sure do love them.
We enjoy going to Cat shows, and one year we went to the CFA International Cat Show where we pet a British Shorthair. They had the softest fur I have ever felt, it was like rabbit fur. We immediately wanted some of our own. British Shorthair Cats always want to be around you. They are not lap cats though, they don’t typically like to be held, but they love laying on your desk or by you on the couch and be pet.
We work very hard to make sure our Cats have the best life. They eat Royal Canin food, they get to run and play throughout the entire home. We have no kennels or cages, our cats are underfoot and are our pets. Our home is open to visitors or people who just want to come pet and see the cats.
